about

“Hometown” is a rock-n-roll nod to the places we all grew up. One part love song for the suburbs with lyrics like “that’s where I once lived, that brick house beneath the weeping willow” and one part bittersweet goodbye to the days of youth.

lyrics

Take the next right ahead
Ride it till the end of the road
That’s where I once lived
In that brick house beneath the willow

This town had nothin’ cool
The Empty parking lot where we hung out
The freshly painted school
Hell, it still looks just like a jailhouse

I want to be honest, so I’m showing you
The places I came from, the things I used to do

In my hometown. I used to be found.

That’s where I rode my bike
Red, rusted huffy hand me down
I pedaled all damn night
My parents split. I had to get out.

I want to be honest, show you the beginning
Before I met you the way that I was living

In my hometown. I used to be found.

In my hometown I always felt stuck
Really couldn’t get away fast enough
Now that you’re here I’m seeing it again
Feels little better than it did back then
